monday ≠ pocket.

pocket.

me: pocket.
deanna: POCKET.
me: donor
when i was younger i used to keep all the stuff i had in my pockets. there were a lot of rocks & little shiny things. as i got older it got to be too much to carry & i couldn't remember why i kept it anyway so i finally got rid of it. now, i make lists. -brian andreas

oh, monday. go away.

epic weekend.

started friday with plans only to walk somewhere. ended up walking with the roomies to redstripe in wayland square. had a guiness and a salad (WIN), the girls drank wine and carol was in her angry place so she kept us entertained with random ranting outbursts. talked about the boyfs and ex boyfs, etc etc. decided early on to not let earlier texts bother me. don't get in touch with me after months of not returning phone calls and texts only to use me to forward your career. lame.

in bed pretty early because the next morning was all about a trip to the lady-doctor. again with the roomies. the doctor was british and awkward (do these things always go hand in hand?) and thought it was amusing that we travel in a pack at all times. breakfast-ed at the modern diner (not as good as phils but those pancakes rocked my world anyway), then back to 46 ivy. drove over to my favorite park with ciabatta and read/slept out in the sun for a while, then met up with sweenish and went on an excursion into seekonk to buy sporty things for them. talked deanna into buying a tennis racket--psyched. found our way back to the ivy and got sucked into watching 8 Below, which was terrible (but only because it was mildly traumatizing for me and carol--those dogs! so cute!). then got in the caaaah and headed down to narragansett, bought cheesecake on the way and lay on the beach, decked out in hoodies and jackets, and laughed and joked and looked at the stars. the other two fell asleep on the ride home and i listened to sara bareillis and thought about the boyfs. barfy, i know.

sunday = nothing all day, then a random inspiration to go play tennis at hope high school. donned argyle knee socks, short shorts and a long sleeved tee ("will you still be my friend if...?"), goofed off, were worse than deanna thought we'd be (but not as bad as i had envisioned things, so...), apparently inspired 6 other couples to do the same thing--we cut out of there after an hour and a half. and yes, my legs kill today.

late to bed last night after landlord rants and a long talk with kurt. snoozed it about 30 times this morning.

today = desk cleaning, i'm thinking. also a lot of rain. boo.

good weekend.

loz zein an ergerer, abi an anderer.

let it be worse as long as it's change.
cubicle walls hold a strange promise when they're empty, and looking at them now (particularly now that i'm aware that i'll be moving upstairs in the not-so-distant future), i really like the way they look. a map of brown university campus, a list of equity assistance center addresses, the syllabus for maria's class. and pictures. lots of pictures.

dillon in bed with his new bike frame, recently painted metallic green, a red heart propped up on his arm while he tries not to smile. sean, wearing an orange plaid shirt and aviator sunglasses, grinning (probably laughing) with his arm around aaron, wearing a similar green plaid shirt and making a goofy face. kurt, curled up on my ugly mustard-yellow couch, hands clasped, eyes closed, smiling--the colors so vibrant and the soft light making him look kind of angelic. brett and chris, wearing matching red sox shirts, me in capris and sunglasses that make me look like a raging bitch (somehow), josh looking, as always, a little bit older and a little out of place, kourtney with her free pink pawsox shirt slung over her shoulder, and susanna looking perfect and tan and skinny. an xkcd comic that reads "in a dark and confusing world, you burn brightly, i never feel lost." the card deanna gave me on my first day at brown, a blue and white backround with red words: "i kind of wish we had backup singers." a drawing of søren kierkegaard, lips pursed slightly and eyes burning blankly off the page. "to do." john krasinski lazily flopped on a desk, a camera by his elbow. alyssa, laura, linnae, drew and i grinning in our caps and gowns at graduation--i only really talk to linnae and drew anymore, and it hasn't even been a whole year. me leaning into stephanie, her arm around me, sitting on the lawn outside tucker hall, grinning for another year of staff pictures.

moving is so weird.

reading other people's blogs makes me miss writing

...so i decided to start a(nother?) blog. because this new job has little to do with the devil wearing brooks brothers, and/or the meaning of the "l" word (no, not "lesbian," though it also has little to do with that). not sure what this will contain and/or where it will go. and/or whether i will continue overusing "and/or."

not much to report on the "new job" front.

i mean, besides that it's pretty not bad. i wouldn't say great, but certainly not awful, either. slowly but surely learning how to take a long time doing things so that i can appear more busy, more often. the end/beginning of each month is the busiest, and i look forward to it every time. people are incredibly nice, here, and that's what makes it worth it.

city living gets to be more fun as the weather gets warm; more and more often, lately, on my drive home from work i find myself thinking "i love providence." the trees are starting to develop buds that will become leaves come summer, the crocuses have long since faded away and daffodils and other lovely little things have taken their place.

just ordered two new shirts and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. because i need more color in my wardrobe and better reading material. also i may or may not be a tad in love with john krasinski. oops!

it's been a good few days to be a "city girl" (and yes, i understand that no actual "city girl" would ever refer to herself as such), or, more accurately, a Rhode Island girl. the past weekend was full of random drives to south county, catching up with people, hints of the upcoming summer, phils (!), newton ave, roomie time, tv and movies. and sunshine. lots of sunshine.

thinking about a walk after work...
